NEW YORK — It was supposed to be Stephen Strasburg‘s last start of the 2012 season, because he was on an innings limit, on Wednesday. However, manager Davey Johnson ended Strasburg’s season one start early and decided that John Lannan would get the start in the series finale against the Mets.

The Nationals didn’t skip a beat with Lannan on the mound, as they defeated the Mets, 2-0, and swept the three-game series. Washington is now 89-54 and the magic number stands at 12 to win the National League East title.
