Much In The Clutch


With the first week of the 2012-2013 NFL in the books, and Week 2 underway with Green Bay defeating Chicago tonight, it’s time for my first installment of the 1st Team All Clutch for the week. I’ll pick three players and one honorable mention every week.

1) RGIII, QB, Washington Redskins

What an NFL debut for Robert Griffin, III. This young rookie took his Washington Redskins to New Orleans and took out the Drew Brees Saints. Now, before anybody calls this a fluke and points towards Bounty-gate, let me say this. Robert Griffin, III was the first rookie quarterback to lead his team to a victory scoring 40 points  since 1950 (Elias Sports Bureau). He was also the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 300 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in an NFL debut. Depleted Saints team? Slightly. Fluke? Preposterous.
