The Washington Nationals bring the playoffs back to the capitol for the first time since 1933. The 4-1 win over the Dodgers Thursday night solidified the first spot in the National League wildcard.

Fans were on their feet in the ninth inning as Hanley Ramirez took the plate. The crowd erupted when Drew Storen struck out Ramirez. Until this year, the Nats never had a winning season. They are the third team to clinch a playoff berth this season.

The Dodgers’ loss dropped them to three games behind St. Louis for the second NL wildcard.
