Well, history has been made. We knew this was going to happen for some time now, but the actual moment is still very sweet. The Washington Nationals will be playing playoff baseball in October, the first Washington baseball team to do so since 1933. For reference, FDR was our President, the Pyramids were only half built and dinosaurs still roamed the Earth when D.C. last had a postseason baseball team.

However, the Nationals have much bigger goals in mind, namely winning the NL East and the best record in the NL. The Reds managed to clinch the first postseason berth of any MLB team this year just hours before the Nats did the same. Washington holds a 5.5 game lead over the Braves in the East, and their 91-58 record is just a half game better than Cincy’s 91-59.
