WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 Wild Card round defeat of the Atlanta Braves means the Nationals will travel to St. Louis on Sunday for Game 1 of the NLDS.

The game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves will be remembered for more than just Major League Baseball’s one-game Wild Card debut.

With runners on first and second in the bottom of the 8th – Atlanta trailing St. Louis 6-3 – Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons hit a bloop fly ball that dropped over the head of Cardinals shortstop Pete Kozma onto the fringe of left field, which should have loaded the bases for Atlanta.

In a weak moment for MLB umpires that wreaked of a Packers-Seahawks Monday Night Football game, the left field umpire ruled the play an infield fly, calling Simmons out and denying the Braves the opportunity to load the bases.
